I took the day off from work today for my cousins wedding. With a slight negative low tide(-.10), I decided to bust out the Sand Shark and take advantage at 4:45 am this morning.
I was hoping to score some old gold so I scouted for some troughs and hard clay areas in knee deep water. First target was a black 1970 qtr and then I started finding some deep shotgun shells and a large musket ball. I figured I was in a good area as I was also digging old iron.
Although I did not get any gold I was satisfied with a 1902 V-Nickle that I uncovered at about 10 down. Even though it's pretty worn I was happy to find my first salt water Liberty Nickle since all my land V-Nickles always look like complete toast.

Funny how Buffalo and V-nickles come out of the salt water so much nicer than the dry land ones.

They come out of the salt water with a black thin layer of crust but you can just chip it off very easily with your thumb nail. Same goes for the Buffalo's.
