A few weeks back I had scored my first complete knee buckle and with a little guidance from del, I was able to restore this relic back to a piece that was more pleasant to my eye. We believe this buckle is dated 1760-1790.
The process was quite easy:
1)Distilled water soak for 1 week
2)light toothpicking and q-tip
3)soft toothbrush scrub soap & water
4)final rinse in distilled water
5)light brass brushing in one genral direction
6)applied Renaissance Wax with toothbrush and then final buff with cotton cloth
