The rain didn't let up so I called Navy Davy and we mutually decided to try the following day. The annual sand castle competition had just taken place at Clam Harbor Beach and we had wanted to do the dew there.

About noon things cleared up locally so I headed out solo with Otto having more sand in his interior than any beach. Marie hardly ever uses Otto now which is a good thing as I've neglected cleaning him for the best part of a month!

Hit a school in metro that was just laced with coinage and even scoffed up a nice silver dime. With the skies clearing the heat and humidity came out in full force and it wasn't long before I packed up and went aquatic. Of course the mandatory cutlery and dinkie were the first beach finds with a few more coins rescued from the drink.

Tuesday morning and Navy Davy and I were off to the beach. Was very surprised to see a few of the sand sculptures still standing!

Guess the rain had missed coming down hard there. beach was very stingy with only a few coins found by us so we decided to hit the picnic area..............wrong move as were soon engulfed by a hoard of bugs that wanted to suck every last drop of blood from us. Left as quickly as we came and headed to a park that was about 45 minutes away.

Here no bugs and we set to detecting the lush grassy area of the park. Navy Davy was just a buzzing finding coin after coin as well as a neat piece of jewelry. I hobbled along with the pro striking a coin here and there. Here is ND's take.

And here is my meager finds. Will post a follow up of the thimble when I get it cleaned and straighted.

From the land of the Bluenose has been retired! Will always and forever be proud to be a Nova Scotian and be associated with such a grand lady of the sea.

As for this hobby the joy continues. Each outing brings out the little boy in me. Not always about the finds which seems the major preoccupation but the adventure. Think this old post tells what I
feel about the hobby and my participation in it.

:congrats:! On some fine finds! You're right about this hobby. The anticipation on hunting a new spot. Does bring out the kid in us all. I have alot of fun showing people what I've found. Especially the jewelry. To alot of people. A silver dime, is just a dime. Long live Metal Detecting! ::usaflag:: Its pretty good excersize too! :waving:
