What a day this has been, found a foundation on the maps went to check it out its water department land as i was pulling in, there was a couple of guys standing there that work for the water department,I explaned to them that there was a foundation down this dead end road. After explaining to them what i do they said go right ahead.Well i parked my car off to the side and walked in. Sure enough there it was in the middle of a field grass is to high,so i continued down the road about a mile and stumbled on a foundation not even on the maps and never detected, thank u lord,i found 2 complete shoe buckles, 5 dandy buttons,1787 conn, king george 11,1807 draped bust,1 concave button,1 pewter button with design.an a thimble, spent 8 hours here and just scratched the surface.

Wow, what a terrific hunt! :wow:

Incredible coins, buttons and buckles! (And look at that gnarly tree!) I love the old coppers, especially the 1807 Draped Bust! :loveit:

It sounds like you have found a terrific site to hunt, and best of all you have permission to be there.

Hit that place hard and often! thumbsup01

sorry Gary was out camping over the weekend ..

hey could you post some better pictures (maybe with the light source off to the side so it cast across the coin) it will help create the shadow i may need to id it . also can you take a magnify glass and confirm if the symbols between the words are cinquifoils(little five pionted and star or flower like) or pheons ( tiny little arrow-like ) or other .i may have narrowed the coin down but just can't confirm it .

no Gary the snipe-nose variety has a very pronounced sharp nose caused by a die-crack error. like this one

Gary its in rough shape and without seeing the complete design it would be hard to speculate anything more than it being a nice fancy button for its day.
