Yesterday and friend and I went out to explore some woods. He had been there once before and had found a buffalo nickel. We though if we follow an old overgrown road it could yield some good results.

Unfortunately 1.5 hours later and almost 20 shotgun shells between the two of us we had nothing for our efforts.

I had headed back to the entrance to the woods and was plunking around there. I found a slightly more leveled area than the rest and started to grid it. About a foot away from a tree I got a nice signal. It was reading 12-42 on my etrac so I figured a wheatie or something.

The soil was basically moss covered rock. As I tried to dig my plug I hit nothing but rock the whole way around. I carefully pop up the 2 thick plug and stick my x-1 in the pin point. It's in the plug! I brush some of the dirt and out falls this disk about the size of a nickel. I caught a glimmer of silver and my heat started to race. I carry a small jar of water with me, and with one dip I saw that I had found my first Reale, I think a 1 reales, 1784!!! It's a little beat on, but I'm not complaining about a 228 year old silver coin!

Anyone proficient with the mint marks that could tell me where this was made?

Thanks!
