Sometimes life gets busy, and the needs of family take precedence over leisure time activities. I have not been out detecting in some time now, and that's OK. This is what life can be about. It just works out this way sometimes.
This last Saturday I found myself once again with the time to go hunting for old coins. The E-Trac felt strange as I started to swing it back, and forth on a parkway strip just a short ways from my house. I soon fell back into the easy rhythm of the slow methodic swing, and the sounds from the earphones became a symphony that gave life to the buried metal beneath my feet. It was not long until a few Wheat Pennies came to the surface, and saw the light of day once again. I had just finished a grid at the base of a tree when a high pitched sound told me Silver was waiting...

This was a 1964 Silver Washington Not an old coin, but always welcome in my keeper pouch!

With the nearby busy street just a few feet away, this was a noisy location. A good set of headphones is a must in this situation.

I love digging mercury Dimes! It has to be my favorite coin to find. This was a nice 1943 without a mint mark.

Still a modern day bus stop, a little research showed this area to have been a bus stop in the 1940's and 1950's. Many silver coins have come from this area.

I ended up with 4 Wheats, and a couple Silvers in the short 2 hour hunt.

It felt good to dig in the ground again. The short hunt had worked it's magic on me, and I found myself at ease with the world. Yes, life does happen, and we often don't get to do the things we like to do on a regular basis, but when opportunity arises make sure and take the time to rejuvenate, and find peace. I know I sure did on this hunt, as I found myself lost in local history, and...

...relaxing to the sound of Silver.

Keep Swing'in
