We were finally in line with a nice negative low tide today at 4:59pm. Instead of hunting the old farm fields, I decided to hit long island sound today.
With a -.70 negative tide, I started my hunt about 2 hours ahead of the dead low time and waded out as far as I could go. I concentrated my hunt in about a 100x50 area in thigh deep water. The bottom was hard sand and rocky with small shells and pebbles so I knew I was in a god spot since it was void of deep sand.
As soon as I found an old coin(wheat penny), I stayed in that area and went very slow. Next target was another wheat then a few inches to left I got a Standing Liberty qtr. These are the sweet spots I dream of finding :daydream:... another two steps to the left and Bam!! Ahh...the glint of gold at the bottom of my scoop
A 4.5gram 14k wedding band with a date of 1958. :happydance01:
Every target in this area was old including 2 buffalos, an old silver cub scout ring, sterling silver Christopher pendant and two other religous medallions. I know there is more there but the sun was starting to set so I had to call it quits.
