I met up with Tim (Ill Digger) and Ted on a chilly day to hunt a couple parks that Milco had found. Sorry you had to cancel Darren (Milco). This is how the first park went, 2 Etracs, and a CTX, after 1.5 hours of hunting we had 3 coins, 2 zinclons and a nickel. When I first pulled up to this park I was drooling. It dates back to the mid 1800's and had that look with big old trees and surrounded by old homes. After moving on to another park the finds got a little better. I found the first silver of the day a 1924-D Merc. Ted ended up with a silver locket and Tim pulled a Merc. I also found about $4 in clad and 5 wheats. It was 28 degrees and the wind was blowing about 20 mph, it was chilly :frozen: but after I found that Merc I warmed up just enough to keep me going.

Silver does have have that warming quality. Stinks that the 1st park had that promising look but was a fizzeler. Glad to see that you are able still get out, how was the ground, frozen or not?

They say no place is ever hunted out but sometimes those old parks don't have any coins. After an hour of no finds I usually move on to a new spot too. Congrats on the merc and wheaties. It makes the cold wind seem a little less troubling. HH, Dave.

Way to salvage that hunt, Jeff! Very nice 1924 Merc, and you got the lower mintage &quot:grin: mint mark too.

It happens that way a great looking site that should be productive just dosen't give up any goodies, but persistence generally pays off!

Way to find a few things to keep you going! Bummer I couldn't make it, there will be a next time I am sure. Still amazed that there was nothing at the park.

Sometimes the ones that don't look like they will have anything in them do. You just never know. I love detecting but,In 28 degree weather I'd rather be in front of a toasty fireplace taking a snooze.

It is not frozen yet but unfortunately it won't be long.
