This is my first finds post on this forum. I found this earlier in the year but wanted to share it with everyone.
I found this at a home site (1830s) It was about 4 inches deep and screamed clad quarter on the E-Trac. To my suprise I dug this. A guy from another site identified it as an Officers sword Pummel from the war of 1812!!! I was shocked, this relic is older than my oldest dug coin 1819 LC in 2 years of detecting. Thanks for looking; Bill

lol That would be too cool- hey maybe it's nearby... I once found a padlock and then the key that fit it!

...you never know :thinkingabout: I say dig it all in that area if you go back.

Btw, I'm surprised that you found someone able to identify it so quickly- he sure knows his stuff

:congrats: looking forward to seeing some more of your finds- welcome to the forum!

Yea here is a couple more pics. As you see the holes line up top and under the beak. I was stunnned to find this relic. It's over 200 years old and was found less that 1 1/2 miles from my house. The inside is pretty much smooth, not threaded in any way. If only it could talk, I'm sure it would have a fascinating story to tell. :wow:
