All of these balls were found in my field this past summer.no idea on the caliber of them..but they are kool anyway.I don't know and probly will ever know if any of them are from the Revolutionary war Castleton skirmish..which happened less than a 1/4 mile from my property.Doubtful but kool to consider anyway.

generally .53 , .58 , .62 , .69 , .72 calibers were all from military type muskets .

how do you determine the caliber?

for example .53 caliber is 53 thousandths of an inch ( a bit more than a half inch across) a .72 caliber is a bit under 3/4 of an inch across . a cheap pair of calipers will be very accurate in telling the size but you can also get a pretty close with just a common straight ruler too.
