Today I drove a little over an hour away to a town I've never been to before. I had checked it out on Google Maps and noticed that it has three old parks so I decided to pay a visit. It was supposed to be partly cloudy and in the 50s today, but it ended up raining on and off and barely made it into the 40s. Also, the town is north of here and they still had some snow on the ground. Oh well, at least it wasn't frozen.

Things started out fairly slow and after an hour I had only 1 wheat cent. So I decided to move to a different area and immediately got a beautiful 12-46 signal that was about 7 deep. It ended up being a 1906-O Barber Quarter, my first one of the year. :happydance01:

Not long after that I got an 1892 Indian Head then a 1920-D Mercury Dime. Then I moved to another different area and got an 1896 Indian Head.

It was a very fun day of detecting even though the weather was quite miserable. By the end of my hunt everything was caked in mud including myself.

Here are my muddy finds for today:
61989

Here are the keepers:
61990

Two Indian Heads today:
6199161992

This 1920-D Mercury Dime must have been fairly new when it was dropped:
6199361994

1906-O Barber Quarter, before and after cleaning:
6199561996
6199761998

Relics today include a key, mashed thimble, watch winder, clay marble, 1943 Canadian Cent, and a decorative drawer pull. The watch winder says Geo. E. King - Jeweler - Watchmaker
61999

That's all, folks!

Thanks for looking and happy hunting! :beerbuddy:

That hour drive was well worth it. Love the Barber quarter :congrats:. Nice bunch of keepers and I would have liked to see a picture of a mud covered Tony. (I can picture it). Great looking Merc and IH's.

:congrats: You dig such amazing, diverse finds! Love that last pic |:cheering: What's your secret Tony? :envious: Do you use a small coil in the trashy parks? I seem to be missing silver w/my new SEF Butterfly coil... I know there's silver out there in my neck of the woods.

Nice finds Tony! Congrats on the barber quarter, an O mintmark too! Of course it wouldn't be a Tony Two-Cent hunt if there wasn't a watch winder in there somewhere! Hmmm, you know, Tony Watch-winder has a nice ring to it too! HH, Dave.

Wow Tony! That's a good day! Glad to see you get a barber quarter right after me! My favorite you found is that 20-D merc. I love to see the good details on the early ones! That's easily a $10 merc, more like $15 though. How come you always seem to find the mercs worth over melt? LOL

You sure kill the indians, I struggle with those.
Keep it up! thumbsup01

Do you use a small coil in the trashy parks?

I don't even own a small coil, Tana. I always just use the stock 11 Double D coil on the E-trac. In really trashy areas I just slow my swing speed way down.

However, I have contemplated getting a smaller coil for the E-Trac to see if it would help in those really trashy areas. :thinkingabout:

At first I thought this object was an old drawer knob because I couldn't think of what else it could be. However, the ornamentation is on the wrong side for it to be a drawer knob. I showed the photo to my brother and he surmised that it is the base to an antique receipt spike with the spike part missing. I think he's probably right.

The small coil has blown me away!!! It amazes me what I missed with the larger coil..I highly reccomend it

However....you're already killing it out there :shocked04:..congrats on some great finds :clapping:
