Any ideas what this could be?

I found this rather deep at the 1700's site. It is made of lead and hollow.

It measures 1 1/2 X 3/4.

My first thought was a fishing weight but the hole seems to large tone such and I don't think they invented the slip type sinker that far back.

That was my first thought Del. It's just more lead for me to melt down and pour jig heads with.
