My first real gold! + silver and old aluminum token spill

Decided to go out today to a spot I've hit many times to dig just about any signal I could find (because they are starting to get far and few between) The spot is fairly clean in the open areas and has already given up around a dozen silver coins (modern silver) and a couple rings over many hunts (among other various, interesting items and foreign coins) so it was a good place to go over again and check all the iffy targets knowing at least SOMETHING would show up. :)

After digging a copper penny a few inches down by a semi-old tree I got a 13-17 signal on the e-trac about 2 inches down. Very solid signal. To my surprise a shiny yellowish ring!

I knew how it rang up it could definitely be my first real gold. And it was! <:

It's a 1936 women's class ring marked Jostens 10k sterling (weighs 4.5 grams) The back half of the band the sterling stops and the 10k is welded in. And about half way back on the design part of the ring the sterling starts again. So basically, the middle of the ring is sterling and the front & back are 10k. Very interesting!

In the 2+ hours of hunting after the ring I dug 1938 & 1958 wheaties in close proximity, a stained 1962-D rosie, about a buck in clad, and then....

A deep aluminum token spill! About 6 inches down on top of each other (with about a half inch of dirt between them) pops out 2 discs that I couldn't see ANYTHING on. :dontknow:

Here, they end up being old palm olive and shoe tokens. Very cool!

What a day for going over the same spot again and not expecting much. The ring Isn't worth too much, I estimate about $45. (Not that I would sell it either way) But I'm completely stoked, I don't find many items with value.

The full video is fun if anyone chooses to watch it. Had a great time.

I saw your video on youtube before I checked the forums tonight - I didn't realize you posted here =D

Thanks. If you keep at it you'll find gold. It took me 14 months!

I haven't been a member here long, only a few months.

Happy Hunting!

:wow:

Congrats on that beautiful gold ring, Jon! It's an oldie too, very cool that it's dated 1936.

I like the old tokens too.

I will watch the video when I get home from work tonight. thumbsup01
