We went out Friday to test drive a few new parks. The first one was a bust because of the fill dirt added since the 1930's. 8/

The second one however, showed some solid signs for a return trip.

Ron dug two Rosies plus a Merc while two Mercs, plus a Rosie found their way into my pocket.

The 1916 is, unfortunately from San Francisco. But, it was a lot of fun hoping for the D before we could clearly see it was in fact a S . :)

It sure looks like a fun hunt to me, Joe! Without question, that park deserves some return visits! thumbsup01

I have only found two 1916 Mercs in my lifetime and neither had a mint mark. So often they are really worn but yours looks pretty good.

Nine wheaties is also a good sign that maybe the park hasn't been hunted to death.

Congrats on the nice finds and on finding a new site to hunt! |:cheering:

lol Thank you Donna. It was close. I've dug several '16 Mercs... only a few have the S mint mark. Hopefully a D will come up.
