Every time out to this Civil War Skirmish area, I have been finding buttons, musket balls, horse rings and odds and ends from what looks like an old home site. Found these two in my morning hunt today.

The first pic I'm pretty sure is a trigger guard, but can any one tell me off of what rifle? I found one fairly close, and think it might be a .40 cal percussion rifle, but from what year??

Now, this one has me stumped. A few people have seen it and thought a decoration piece for some thing, like on a cannon maybe?? I think it's made of pewter, but with a thin brass plate molded over the form. Any Ideas:huh:

i could see your first item being a brass trigger gard  , i would have to look around to find a close match .

the second looks like it could be a horse rosette , i have some pretty close . most are either a thin stamped copper or brass decorated piece with lead or pewter filled backs .
