I asked my wife what she wanted to do today and she replied, I'm not getting off this couch. lol

So I quickly decided to head out for some metal detecting. What better way to celebrate our nation's independence? thumbsup01

I went back to the old school grounds that I hunted back on June 1. Such a beautiful day today! Sunny with a high of 80 degrees and not too humid. This old school site is a wonderful place to detect because there is not a lot of junk. The cornerstone from the old school is now in the base of the :usaflag:pole.

Here are my total finds for the day:

The more interesting relics and junk items:
60982

My first good find of the day was this 1948 Quarter that is holed and still has the chain attached. I think other detectorists may have missed it because the chain messed up the signal, however the E-Trac gave me enough of a hint of silver that I had to dig.

Today's keepers:

One of the Indian Heads was really worn so I was hoping that it was an older one. However, as best I can tell it is an 1885. What do you think?

This store token was pitted but I cleaned it up as best as I could:

At first I thought this was a foreign coin but it is a play coin. It is tiny, about the size of a trime:

Thanks for looking and Happy 4th of July, everyone! :beerbuddy:

Nice digging Tony. Good work on that quarter for sure. Most of the silver Washingtons I've gotten this year have had their signals altered by other targets & junk. Like yours, it likely explains why they were still there to be found. Congrats!

Another vote for 1885. thumbsup01
And I gotta say..... :thinkingabout: I think that's the first Washington quarter I've ever seen holed. lol
I bet your right too on the chain being the reason for it being missed or overlooked by other hunters.
Nice huntin' man! |:cheering:
Congrats!

Nice finds Tony. First holed Washington quarter I have ever seen. That school yard looks awesome. I think you have better luck than me finding these honey holes that have never been (or poorly) detected! Happy hunting, Dave.
