Did some errands this morning and decided to go on a hunt. Went back to the park where I was when I posted the 4 silvers......today my 1st dig was a war nickel. I can't remember the last time I dug one of those, 1943P.
Also got myself a 1942S merc and a 1960 rosie plus a 1945 wheat. Once again this park gives up more silvers than wheats.

The whatsit is just that.....a whatsit. Got this on my last hunt with Rob.

Once again I managed to attract the youngsters. I originally had only one until he asked me what I had found. I told him that I had found the war nickel. He immediately stands up and waves to his friends and yells out he found a war nickel. I thought cool, this kid collects coins until he asked me what a war nickel was. 8/

Added a photo of the back of the whatsit

:congrats: on the silver, especially the war nickel. Unless you're z118, I think they're hard to find.
With the quality of detectorists in that area, I find it hard to believe there's anything left in the ground lol

|:cheering: nice hunt.

Al your whatsit is a puzzling one :thinkingabout: I can only guess it was used as some kind of decorated adornment and judging by the flat back , it was brazed onto a larger metal piece. maybe a nice piece of furniture like a desk or dresser .
