I went out this afternoon and got there just as the crews were finishing up for the day. I stopped by this morning but there was too much activity and they had not uncovered the areas I was waiting for. So I went back and am I glad I did! All of this stuff and the coins came out of a small strip of terrace about two feet wide and 1/2 block long.

When I was done I had found: 1889 Seated Dime; 1868 Shield Nickel; 1862 Fatty IH; 1883 IH; and 1891 IH.

:shocked03: Dang Darren! Now thats got to be your best tearout EVER!! :perfect10:
Just the seated dime would've made the hunt! And a shield nickle is another coin worth a celebration by itself too. <:
You even snagged a fatty! :envious: Never found one of those myself. \:[ crying01
Awesome hunt man!
Congrats!

P.S. I dig the marble too!

Man on man that is some fine digging right there. A shield nickel is about as high as can be on my most hoped for coin at this point. Congrats!

:wow: :wow:
:congrats: on some really nice finds. I don't think I've seen too many silver coins come out that color. I might have thrown that one in my clad jar. 8/

I'm going to have to look at my coins a LOT closer from now on.

Thanks Tim! Yeah, I was on cloud nine and was trying to go slow over this small area. First was the dime then two IH's, then the nickel, last was an IH. Just a crazy amount of really old coins from such a small area, I am still amazed!

Nice job hitting the tear out at just the right time. That ground most likely hasn't seen the light of day since the late 1800's :peace:. Congrats on some great coins :beerbuddy:

That shield nickle is in pretty good shape. Nice old coins you saved from the cement :congrats: Who knows how long it would have been, before the next time the sidewalk would be redone.
