I am posting these pictures with the hope that someone can help me identify this item.
Found it yesterday at a site that lots of old coins (freemindstuck had a four barber day here :perfect10: ) and horse tack has been found.
it was very deep almost 8 inches.
Most of the older coins and tack were found in the same general area.
Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for checking this out!

well to me it looks like a vintage valve stem cover for a tire with a marble stuck in the end . heres a picture of some old stem covers .

can you take the marble out to see if there are threads in that end ??

I think Del is right but it could also be a very old henway.

8/ 8/ lol

Okay, am I the only person who didn't see that coming?

But Dan, why would someone stick a marble in a valve stem cover for a tire and then drop it on the ground? :thinkingabout:

I think it's an antique marble holder. lol

I got a good chuckle when I checked this thread!
I have dug several of the old valve stem covers and this object is smaller in length and thinner than any I have come across.
The marble is just a bit larger than a pencil eraser.
Going to take some close ups and post them up.
In the side view thats posted there is a line you can see....it turns there freely....that made me think it was a lipstick container....with a pee-wee marble stuck in it ::huh:: ....but...its such a heavy casing that now I am doubting that also.
