Finally had a day off! Navy Davy and I tackled one muddy button hole. Luckily neither one of us got stuck in the knee deep quagmire.

After an hour and a half both of us were done out and called it a day. ND found a nice complete thimble and a Royal Regimental Artillery button. My finds included an 88th regiment and nice sporting button with the shank intact.

Kind of reminds me of our button hole Dan, except Leslie's site gives out great buttons lol What a gift to have a site that gives up quality buttons like that. :clapping:

Paper Mill Lake is man mad. In the mid 1800s a paper mill was infact located in the lake but burnt down in the 1880s. Dam is being repaired so lake is drained...too our good fortune and talking to the workers will possible remain that way till late Nov.

if it was like most of the paper mills back then Les , they recycled clothing to make the paper and the buttons were cast aside or dumped right out into pond . congrats on that little gold mine of buttons . :clapping: :clapping:
