yesterday was the end of my first year detecting. and no silver coins. went out today and my first one...a 1942 merc at a house tear out guess i lost my virginity lol the swastika piece...maybe a valve for a gas light? the bottle says hoyts german cologne...E.W.hoyt & co....lowell mass

couldnt sleep last night and did some research on the swastika item it was made by crane valve co. in the 1920-1930s was then dropped when the nazis adopted it. the crane valve co. is still in business

Congrats on the Merc. The swastika piece is an odd one for sure. Did they say if the valve was for a gas light or just some other valve. We find a lot of good luck tokens that had a swastika on them. That changed quickly.

Congrats on the Merc! You'll remember that one for a long time. The valve item is cool, although I think the symbol is a sauwastika, as opposed to the swastika that the Nazis used.

thanks for the replies and encouragements...i doubt i will ever forget the merc. no coinnut the website didnt specify any thing on the valve.
