Did a couple of field hunts on Tuesday and Wednesday, first I went out by myself to a field where I have found a couple Indians the weekend before I was hoping to duplicate that but did even better with a total of three, an 1886, 1893 and a 1902. Also found a few artifacts. Diane went with me on Wednesday and we went back to this field, no coins this time but did get a buckle and a suspender buckle. Diane got a suspender buckle and two pieces of a locket or pendant that were in the same hole. We moved on to another field as the day was growing short, this field gave up an 1869 Indian to me Saturday and Diane had gotten two Indians herself. Well it gave up just one coin….that’s right another Indian! This time a very nice 1890.

That first one is always the hardest it seems. This has been my best year so far for Indians.

Good luck, research is the key and dig everything above iron because there are a lot of neat things besides coins in the fields.

Congrats on the four Indian Heads, Tony! You sure can tell that the 1890 came from a different field, it really looks nice.

I must tell you that it has been impossible for me to find an 1886 Indian Head. That is the only glaring hole in my collection of dug Indian Heads from 1879-1909. I have never found one. So congrats to you on that one!

It is funny that sometimes a common date can be elusive. My friend Terry aka Goes4ever who digs at least 100+ Indians every year is missing 7 for the complete set the 1862, 1869, 1871, 1872, 1877, 1908-S and 1909-S. And I who have only dug a fraction of his total have three he is missing the 1862, 1869, 1872. And Kyle Lindeman who needs only 5 for a complete set the 1869, 1877, 1886, 1908-S and 1909-S and I got two of the ones he is missing....just sorta strange! :shocked02:

Interesting that Kyle is also missing the 1886. I have a feeling the 1886 Indian Head didn't circulate much in these parts.

I am still missing all of the fatties, plus 1866, 1868, 1869, 1870, 1871, 1872, 1877, 1878, 1886, 1908-S and 1909-S.
