Last couple of hunts have not produced any old coins but did get a few relics. Diane got two nice buttons, if any can help ID the large gilt button I would appreciate it, my old eyes can't quite make out the back mark. I got some kind of finial a marble and my best find a Native American Hammer Stone. Indian artifacts are always a bonus when doing field hunts!3564135642356433564435645

Congrats on even getting out detecting this late in the year  Diane's button is datable by the back mark. As a rough guess 1840's -1860's The mark may say Benedict and Burnham, but the exact writing will give you the best clue to age. It's a very nice gilt civilian button. Dan's cleaning method on that button would really bring out all of the gold. Some nice finds.

Just found out the flower button is a Benedict & Burnham which is a predecessor of the Waterbury Button Company. Benedict & Burnham dates between 1834-1843! I will check out his cleaning method.

Nice old relics. How large is that rock? I am still waiting to find my first marble  ...and as I lost all mine it would be my only one.

no problem Tony , the dark green verdigris is the most stubborn to remove as its usually very hard but brittle . you could use a tooth pick and try popping it off , i'v had luck with this . the overall appearance is greatly improved though Tony , well done.:clapping::clapping:
