Was on a mission to clear out some iron from a site that has been great in the past with quality and quantity but has lately dried up. I was doing OK with the iron removal but a small tombac and a toasted KGII (I think) got in the way ;)

I have found antlers in the woods before, but this is the first time I found them still attached to the buck. Nice 7 pointer. It's a shame it was wasted. Coyotes had already started in on it. Well, I guess the coyotes don't consider it wasted.

Digging that iron seems to be working. Was the deer shot Jeff? Nothing off that coin after you cleaned it up? I glad you snuck one more hunt in before the frigid temps.

WTG on the copper. Wonder what killed the deer. Hopefully not a useless kill.

Dan, I was using the small coil and flipping between 2 and 6 filters on each target to see the difference in both extremes. The 6 filter set up gave the better Signagragh response on the iron and the small tombac. I had switched to the 10 DD and moved away from the cellar hole when I found the copper. It was so shallow ( about an inch down ), filters didn't make a difference. I'll experiment some more with the 2 filter set up next time I'm at a less pounded site.

Drew, I assume it was shot on the side facing down. I was tempted to turn it over to see, but it was kind of wedged in between a couple of saplings. Plus it was after 2:00 PM....time to get out of the woods before the lead starting flying. There were several tree stands in the area. That copper is about a toasted as they come. Cleaning didn't help.
