Today George and I had a couple of cellar sites to hit before the freezing temps return back here in Connecticut. I had two sites that were somewhat familiar with me from about a decade ago with a possible new one i never knew was there until just last night. being this very well is our last hunt of the year and a possible "unhit" site I thought i'd get a few friends together. I invited four but only two accepted Thiltzy (Todd) and HEAVYMETALNUT (Dave) the weather was great and the ground was like butter.

here is a "legendary Trio" Thiltzy , Coinnut and HEAVYMETALNUT doing their best imitation of being lost.

and heres a couple of the sites we hit, this first one was where of the bulk of the finds came from. I found two coppers very early on , a King George II ( worn no date) and a King George III (in rough shape and no date) and a few buttons .

it was incredible to get out so late in the year here in Connecticut especially with the great company , had a lot of fun and will have to do it again soon . Thanks for accepting my last minute invite guys.

Looks like a great way to end the year, Dan! Very bummed I missed your email last night, but I do appreciate being in your thoughts.
What's the thing at the bottom left of the second picture? I've found one like it and think it's some sort of bed roll buckle.

nope the coppers are really not worth a closeup  even the indian (1884) is rough , the best coin condition-wise is the wheatie (1917) .

This is our last hunt of the year for real right? :hystericallaugh: I think it is. Was great getting out for a stress free day. Nice to see Dave again and finally meet the copper king :notworthy: Todd. I had a decent day scoring two beat coppers, a barber dime, and of all things - a war nickel. 3 nice musket balls, bunch of buttons and a whole lot of fun. Before you ask Dan, there is no date on the large cent and the small copper is a Hibernia. I guess I got a thing for harps lately :dontknow: I think we are getting some real snow Thurs into Fri so start cleaning your stuff!!

Wish I could have joined you guys but alas I'm forced to relax in the sunshine of southern CA. I hear you folks might get a bit of snow Thursday...so sorry I'm going to miss it
Happy New Year and we'll get some hunting in when the snow melts.

Hey George, nice find on the Hibernia. I have yet to dig one. You had a good day. I was wondering what the date was on the Barber?

The Barber was a 1901 in VG condition. I wish it was a Flowing Hair

Now that's an awesome four hunters hitting a spot. After these four guys hit a spot together it can be crossed off the, " to be hunted " spot.... veterans all. Great to see you all got out together and made some nice finds.

Great hunting. Good thing you were there cause they really do look lost in that 1st picture. To me, you guys are the "crew" as far as cellar hole hunting goes. Glad to see that all of you got out for that last hunt.

Best of luck in 2014 and looking forward to your finds

You have that right Al!!! I've never seen any group even close to these guys pulling up Colonial America. :notworthy:

Great post, pictures and recoveries Dan and crew. Hopefully this next storm will miss you folks and your hunting grounds. :crossfingers:
