Hi,

I have several very corroded old aluminium tokens. I'm wanting suggestions on how to clean these?
The oxidation is black. Some of them are pretty pitted from the corrosion so I don't expect to make them look new or anything. But I think if I could get some of the oxidation off they would be more legible.

Thanks

Depending on the corrosion, there may be nothing but pits left under it. Pictures would be great.

I use steel wool with the soap built in. Wet it and then start rubbing the token in a circular motion. The corrosion "blooms" will come off revealing the part of the token that has corroded away. Sometimes the bloom has spread out on top of the token but comes away nicely to reveal the words underneath. Sometimes not and all you have left is a rotten token.

Hey freeminstuck, I used and sos pad here is an aluminum token I cleaned with it- figured it couldn't hurt trying the sos pad cause I couldn't really make out what was on the whole token- so here's a before picture 36620 36621 and after 36622 36623
