After hanging up my detector last September 2 days ago I finally got out for a real woods hunt. I know I haven't been on this or any forum in some time but I thought I would stop buy and share my finds from that day. I couldn't ask for a better way to start the 2014 season. 4 Copper, a few Buttons, 1 little Indian, a shoe Buckle Frame and my 3rd GW Button. Needless to say, I can hardly wait to get back to that site.

An incredible find :thumbsup01: Definitely one on my wish list

However, with the frequency and volume I'm seeing these being found and posted...I'm beginning to wonder how rare they truly are

Nice :thumbsup01: Now count the denticles (marks) around the edge and tell me there are 72 of them. There can be 49, 54, 63 or 72. 72 is better than 63

If I have the variety correct, it is listed as WI 12 D in Albert's book. Rarity 6. His book was printed around 1976. The rarity numbers are based on how many specimens are known to exist. These numbers are surely out of date now. A Rarity 6 (R6) in his book list that there are between 3-5 known. I'm sure there are more known to exist now, but it still ranks as one of the rarer varieties. Great button :clapping:
