Dan got together myself, Drew and Brandon for a birthday boy's relic hunt. Happy birthday Dan:clapping:We hit two sites and the second one was definitely better for me. A lot of shot gun shells and other junk, but I did get a good amount of buttons, a large caliber musket ball and just 3 coins. Thank God they were not clad  The two silvers are Half Reales, although one of them looks like it was reduced down in size a bit (that's called stealing :shocked04: ) The copper coin is a rare French Liard with an incredibly low mintage of 81 million  Who knew that in 1657 they could mass produce that many coins. Ok, so it's not really rare but one of my older dated coins. Thanks for the hunt Dan and friends. We managed to not get wet from the weather or the trip across the brook.

the French Liard is in very nice shape for its age maybe that site is older then first though and i don't think the reales have the same bust on both they look a bit different . Great hunt George :clapping::cheering:

:drool:Wow, great hunt George. 1657 would be my oldest coin. The 1/2 reales have been avoiding my coil, its been almost a year since I last dug some reales. Gratz on a sweet hunt!

hey George your two reales do have different rulers the 1787 is the last year for Carolus III (Charles II) and the smaller one is Carolus IIII 1788-1809 and probably explains why that coin is a bit smaller .

Wow, what a great hunt. It's amazing how much that half reale is worn down George. 1657 oldie, that had to get the juices flowing.

Thanks everyone. It was a lot of fun hunting together, but the time seems to fly by so quick. :dontknow: Some of those fields were so sparse in targets that you almost quit, but that is where one of the Spanish came out of. Makes you wonder how well off you have to be to carry silver into the fields with you? As for the footage of Dan and his scary journey across the pole.....that is saved in the "when needed" files:devilish:
