Will be heading down to Statesboro GA this spring to visit family. Would like to know about any regulations for detecting. From what I can find, you need a permit? Maybe some nice southern folk could fill me in. Thanks.

Will be heading down to Statesboro GA this spring to visit family. Would like to know about any regulations for detecting. From what I can find, you need a permit? Maybe some nice southern folk could fill me in. Thanks. I am in Georgia. I've only been detecting since November, and therefore, being so new, I've only "wet my feet" on private owned land, all of which the owners have welcomed me, and my local county owned parks and playgrounds, which I got permission from the Chamber of Commerce president. I do know from research, that it is illegal in State Parks. Beyond that, I've not read about permits anywhere. Will you share your source with me/us?

I have read similar posts where a member is asking for help with the laws in another state. I hadn't commented before on these types of posts but I have to say how nice it is to be a member of a forum where members abide by the law. Kudos Tundradigger for following up on the Georgia laws. Hope your detecting in GA is worthwhile and looking forward to your finds.
