Made it to the beach to try out my replacement coil for the V3i, whites finally sent it to me. The V3i is working well once again. The beach was, for lack of the proper term "sanded out"? The sand moved from the top out! Found quite a few coins and also a Pontiac Chief of the Sixes car token coin, some kind of a hockey medal and a really cool clasp of some type that looks like gold underneath? Most of the coins were from the 60's and 70's, a couple Wheaties and a silver dime that I cannot read. I have to figure out whats best to clean the copper with? I gotta tell you there were a bunch of other detectorists, maybe six or eight in a group, who made an absolute mess of the beach, they left open holes all over the place! Shame on them..... http://nhbobsmetaldetectingforum.com/Smileys/set7/icon_nonono.gif

That's like the haul I got in a park that was from the 1700's, most coins were from the 70's.... 1970's. Maybe the Pontiac coin will be worth something now that the 'company' no longer exists. Nice haul. It's the times after digging I grab detector and immediately want to start swinging again that I sometimes forget I didnt fill hole, but I notice it and kick the dirt back in with my foot. Maybe they thought they can get away with not filling their holes because its a beach, just pretending it was from a kid building a sand castle.

No, it looked like it could have been a deleted scene from caddy shack, you know gofer holes everywhere! the whole top of the beach was full of hundreds of open holes! I could not believe it!:shocked03:

Wow too bad about the beach. When it comes time, they will close that beach to detecting instead of just ticketing the offenders. Cool looking Pontiac token...I wonder if you can cash it in for the new Trans AM.

Haha. I didn't say it was a good logic. Just make sure you find the real old coins and all the gold before they ban the detectors as George said.

Didn't you say something to those pigs? Set them straight? It's because of them that the beach might be closed to metal detecting next time you go there.

nice finds. and i agree that detectors that leave an area all tore up give the rest of us a bad name.
