First day out for 2014...finally the snow has melted! At least in the valley here. Can't get to any cellar holes yet (new ones on my list or the old favorites) as snow remains 6-18" in the deeper woods. That will come in a week or two though...gotta let things melt and dry out a bit up there. In the meantime checked out an older downtown park here in Burlington (c. 1895). Great just to get a swingin' again, but boy does the forearm ache after 3 hours of digging with the new 10" coil! Got to get those muscles toned back up. Anyway, below a quick shot of some meager finds. Horseshoe, simple buckle, fired bullet, chunk of lead, a few pieces of clad and two wheaties (plus some junk of course - not shown). Wheat on the left is a worn but readable 1909 so didn't go home completely empty handed. Better finds lay ahead once I can get into the hills. Happy hunting.

Congrats on getting back out there this season. Nice 1909. A little ice on the arm and you'll be back out there tomorrow

You're off to a good start (unless you were seeking gold)! Glad you are getting able to get out and get swinging.

you'll be out at the cellar sites just in time for the black flies to give you grief. those things are nasty aggressive , hope you get a bugnet to deal with them pesky bugs. congrats on finally getting out BTV Digger

Nice finds BVT. My oldest wheat is 1925, not the first year minting. Drew, NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO COMPLAIN for the heat this year. Winter sucked this year.
