Hey diggers,
First door I knocked on today I got a yes! Beautiful late Victorian style house built in 1906. Large front yard was nice and flat and had that nice black dirt that has been undisturbed for 100+ years. Almost no trash signals. Pretty much every signal was a coin. I was finding wheat pennies every 10 minutes or so. Depth varied from 3 to 6 inches and they were ringing up as 12-42 on the e-trac. After about 45 minutes I got a 12-45 at 7 inches deep. I figured it might be a dime but I didn't expect a barber dime! 1900-S in very good condition. About an hour later I was working next to the driveway and got a solid 12-47 at 7 inches deep. What a great surprise to pop out a 1902 barber quarter! I called it quits after 3 hours. I found 13 wheaties, 2 clad dimes, 3 memorial pennies, and a older car key. Thanks for looking, Dave.

Yeah, I thought the EXACT SAME thing when I got it out of the ground unscathed! I did a live dig on it too. It was a perfect 12-47 at 7 inches deep. I popped the plug and the coin was about 2 inches deeper in the center of the hole. I was able to carefully dig around it and I saw the reeded edge but figured it was a Washington. What a surprise I got!

Congrats on the finds. I didn't get so lucky yesterday... I tried knocking on doors to a house built 1926 (But I think it was rebuilt in 1926 due to a fire as it is on the 1868 map) but the owners never answered the door. Idk if their doorbell didnt work or they didnt hear me knock, or they thought I was door-door. Second house I drove by and saw no one was home (1800) and the third house from 1740 had no doorbell and they didn't hear the knock. gahh. I'll try again sometime this week.

That is a very nice quarter! What a day. I asked a lady to hunt a patch of woods after a month of waiting she said no! I thought we hit it off good, but you can never tell. Congrats on all those sweet coins!

Cool! It looks a bit big for one but I wonder if the "Alpagora" metal is a vintage zipper pull?

That's exactly what I think it is, presumably for some kind of overgarment.

EDIT: Actually, there are a few of them on eBay right now. They call them clothing tags.
