Hey all,

I'm fairly new to detecting. I recently picked up a vintage Whites Beachcomber and it works! Can anyone tell me about this? It is a bicentennial edition. I'm curious on history and worth.

Thanks,

Hello and welcome to the forum, detectingmom! Glad you joined us. I can't tell you much about your Whites Beachcomber. I think there were different beachcomber models. They made them from the early 1970s thru the mid 1980s I think. They seem to sell for about $40 to $60 on eBay.

Have you used it? Do you live near the beach?

Tony, I just got it yesterday at a garage sale for 5.00. I played with it in my yard but still need to figure out the settings. I'm excited to learn more. I live about 40 mins away from the Whites factory so I sent them an email.
We are 45 mins from the Oregon coast :)

Welcome to the forum Detectingmom. Can't help you with the detector but you are a lucky Mom to live in that area. I still have family in the Eugene area and always loved my childhood trips to Oregon.

hello Detectingmom , you might still be able to download a copy of the user's manual from the whites website , that is if you didn't receive it when you bought it .

The whites metal detecting forum also has some very knowledgeable people who might have some good info about the unit.
(hopefully it is ok to mention alternative forums).

Welcome from Washington state. I've got a 1988 White's 5900Di Pro that I was able to get the manual for online. Hopefully you can find one for yours.
