Did not have a lot of time yesterday between yard work and Memorial Day doings so I was able to duck out for about an hour or so. Decided to stop by at a place we had hunted before. This place has a huge yard and a lot of history but I do believe that it had been detected before the current residents moved in. The place dates to the 1840’s and the oldest coins I have found there have been early wheaties. Today was the same with 4 wheaties, 1919, 1937, 1942 and 1944. The other neat finds were a toy gun and an engraved compact. The gun is a Super Nu-Matic, it used a paper strip instead of caps, a squeeze of the handle forced air through the strip and made a popping sound, this gun dates to the late 1940’s to early 1950’s. The compact was a deep find 9” and I was very pleased to find it. It has the name Mary engraved on the front and the style is similar to the 1920’s. Also found a trigger mechanism for another gun. Not great finds but a lot of fun and it was nice to hunt a yard again after field hunting.

Very cool compact. Four wheats in an hour is a good sign. I hope you can get back there. :)

I would disagree...the toy gun is a great find! Hopefully you can find a simple way to clean up old plastic (I assume it's plastic from your pics) though you'd have to be very careful. The compact is also quite nice. Wonder if you could do a quick search to find who it belonged to?

Actually the gun is all metal and I will try to see if I can find out anything about the owner of the compact.

I love finding something personal, especially so personal it has a name. That was deep too. Congrats on a great find!

You found my lost laser ray gun Tony  Now I will be able to move through traffic faster ;) Great gun and a nice compact too. Not used to seeing them in that shape, most around here are round. I think it was a good hunt!

A couple of classic finds! Both great pieces. Cleaned up or not, they would go in my display case if I dug them.

Love that gun, don't give it back to George. Very cool finds for only a hour hunt.
