I went and hunted an empty house with my buddy driftwood1963 yesterday. The house was empty and while hunting around this old overgrown fountain. I stuck my Lesche in the ground and got a pretty good shock in both my arms. My forearms and hands were a little numb and tingly for 5 minutes but I went right back to detecting. lol The wire was only a couple inches deep and probably Romex and not UF rated wire or I wouldn't have cut through the insulation so easily. I guess the fountain was so old and overgrown I didn't think it would still have power to it. As much as I metal detect and given the prolific illegal wiring in my area of the country it probably won't be the last time I get shocked. Be care out there and happy hunting!

My grandpa always told me the best way to see if a wire is live is to pee on it. Luckily, I never listened to him.

Thanks for a good reminder. I don't think I would have considered it still hot either.
