Yesterday I went to the junior high that I went to in hopes of finding some goodies, I got a good clad haul and by the time I found the silver GW I was getting wore out and ready to take off. Getting older has it's downfalls in the stamina department.

Today I decided to take a trip back to the torn down house spot I've been working recently, the very first thing that I dug when I got there was the Indian, about a half hour later I found the pin in basically a driveway spot but the place was actually a bar for quite a while and before that its was a home. I asked a friend of mine there how long it was a bar and he said ever since he could remember. The pin was really black when I found it and the first thing I did was electrolysis and the tell tale rotten egg smell confirmed my suspicion's as to whether or not it was silver. The only writing on the pin is "Italy"

Congrats on your finds the last couple of hunts. I know what you mean when it comes to the stamina department. It's aging gracefully.

That is some nice hunting. I love the look of a shiny silver quarter looking at you from the dirt. And boy, can I relate to the getting old part. It's getting to a point where I need two cold ones when I get home from a hunt.

Nice looking pin, very intricate work. The IH looks to be great shape. Of course getting that silver quarter is the topper. :congrats:on all those keepers.

I've only used electrolysis on old iron. What's a rotten egg smell mean?

It's the smell silver gives off when doing electrolysis on it. Another quick way is to spit on the dull side of aluminum foil and wrap the object in it, five minutes later you can unwrap it and if it smells like rotten eggs it's mostly likely silver. This is another form of electrolysis without using the dc power.

Nice bunch of finds! Love that pin! Looks like you also have the same toy gun handle that Kris posted in Relics.

That pin looks great from coming out of the ground. The quarter is sweet also. Great Job

That pin cleaned up nicely :) thanks for the foil advice. I'd heard of this but not using the dull side or spitting part.
