Under a new reg to take effect July 1, 2014, Metal Detecting is now banned at all MA State Parks and State Ocean Beaches. Except by issuance of a special permit to locate a lost personal article. Also banned is the carrying of firearms in most State Parks. Penalties include fines and banishment from State Parks for a period of one year. Persons who are banned, are subject to arrest.
Audio devices such as radios, TV's etc. also need a special permit for use.

I wonder what rule the state will enforce!!!!!!!

Us and our hobby have now been elevated to Criminal Status.

302-cmr-12-draft-8-23-13.pdf Paste this into google to pull up the new regs.

This may not be what it is cracked up to be.
There is a link that I will have to search for that states that it's not the intensions of the DCR commissioner to stop detecting but to have some control and say over beach detecting.

just looks like they want to collect a licincing fee.

It's not just "State Parks", it also includes urban/town owned parks as well
