Got out for a afternoon hunt at a local elementary school that has been good to me for many years ! I have found lots of silver at the school but never gold , that changed today http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/headbang.gif . Only about 20 minutes into the hunt at the back corner of the soccer field I got a sweet +18 at 6 inches . I was a happy man when I saw beautiful GOLD !It looks to be old and missing a big stone http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/BangHead.gif . I looked all around for the stone but no luck . When I got home I tested it and it passed 18K with flying colors ! It almost holds on a 22K acid test , witch makes me think it might be 20K ! It weighs 4.3 grams , not bad ! After that I found a 1946 wheat cent and a 1958 nickel . Then I had a +74 at 2 inches , it turned out to be a Western Cowboy boot http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing7.gif . It's in the tumbler right now , when it's clean I'll post a picture http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif . Last but not least I got a +82 at 7-8 inches , BAM Big silver ring http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/hello2.gif . It's the largest silver ring I have found this year http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif . This brings my ring totals to #63 for the year http://tnet.forumfoundry.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif . Total clad for about 2 hours was $6.58 .

Congrats on the gold and silver rings, Glen! I wonder what kind of huge stone was in the gold ring? :thinkingabout:

The cowboy boot is interesting too. I wonder what it was used for?

very nice Glen , I know the frost heaves here in the winter can push out a stone from a ring setting so I will pay extra attention when finding them around here. I don't believe your ground gets cold enough to freeze does it?? congrats on the gold and silver again.

Never gets cold enough to freeze the ground here in Nor Cal . I think this ring had a battle with a lawn mower and lost

Nice finds. Wonder if the cowboy boot was some sort of pendant.
