Not a chance.

Sure looked like it in the hole this morning though.
Turned out to be a 5 centimes from France. Brass

What is it with foreign coins in the ground here? Do people come back from vacation with these coins only to pocket spill them?

I remember in the 60's and 70's, you could go into a coin shop and pick out coins out of a box for real cheap. It was mostly foreign coins, worn coins or damaged coins. Priced 5 to 10 cents each. Also remember gumball style machines that had mini plastic eggs filled with foreign coins or foreign paper money for around 50 cents. That may explain coin spills that have a lot of different countries represented.
