Found this about 7 inches down it came out in beautiful condition.

It's 1854 Birmingham sterling silver.

Great piece. What type of spoon is it? Wonder what did it serve? I would use it for serving mashed potatoes :lol: I don't know if I would clean it much. The patina is kinda nice. Maybe just polish the high spots and keep the contrasting background??

Never seen anything like it, but very neat! I can't believe it's lasted so long in the dirt without some of that "ornateness"...for lack of a better term...breaking off. Congrats.

Great spoon. Most ornate I've ever seen in or out of the ground.
