Went out yesterday to check out some fields, first we stopped at an old house that we have hunted before and this time picking were slim, I got a 1920 Wheat and a Sterling Silver bracelet. We went across the road to check a field that the old maps indicated a house site, we spent about a half hour but could not find any evidence of a house. We then drove to check some fields that we have permission on but the crops have not been cut. We then went to this small field that I knew had been cut. Last Saturday we saw that it had been cut and did about a half hour there and I got two buttons and a glass marble. This site is a bit of an enigma, the maps clearly show a house site on the 1874 map but in hunting it a few times last year the best I found in coins were a few wheaties, I did get a few artifacts and the best thing I found in it was a ¾ grooved stone axe of museum quality. Today if finally gave up an old coin. About 5 steps into the field I got a 12-34 signal and after turning the dirt I saw the green disc it was the most grotty looking Indian Head that I have dug in quite awhile but I was glad to see it. The date was 1888. I then found a nice clay marble, I really like them! The next good target showed that you can never tell what may be found in a field it was a 12-35 jumping up to 12-37 a turn of the shovel showed a small disc in the ground. At first I thought it might be a token but it turned out to be a 1941 50 Centimes French coin!

Nice coins and great silver bracelet, but I must say that I really like that marble! It looks like a porcelain marble to me, and a nice big one at that!

It's always exciting when the crops come out and the field sites are opened up for detecting. :thumbsup02:

:congrats:

I always wonder how some of these things like a French coin end up in fields. Nice digs Tony.

Those are pretty cool. Wouldn't it be nice to hear the stories of how things got where we find them?

How pleasant to see a French coin here !! Sorry guys, can't help it !! Motherland !!

Might be a coin brought back by a WWII Veteran. Might also explain the holes, so that the coin could be worn or attached to something.

Very nice Tony, I've yet to find a single marble, someday.

The bracelet has different style links. Maybe 1930's or 40's. I could see that as one my grandfather might have worn. I think he had a gold one similar style. It's obvious how you thought the coin was a token. Maybe it was made to a pendant or charm.

Is that like a bucket list item? Haha I'll trade if I find a marble.
