Also found this today, Took me a while to figure it out. It's a v nickel stamped in lead.
Is there any reason one would do this?

Must be backwards. I can't tell from pic tho. Obvi can't be a counterfeits cuz I'm sure someone would know right away with backward letters and date. Idk? Playing around with the lead and just used a coin to create a pattern in it???

The fake gold coins use lead and copper but to pass a v nickel off as gold?

If there is an indentation you can try using a piece of paper and pencil lead sideways to bring out what doesn't get colored. I can see where date should be but I can't make it out.
