Alec and I met up with Tony Two-Cent this morning at " Five Cent Park" to try our luck again. Just for the record, now that Tony has hunted it, I think I need to re-name it. Check out his post and you will see why.

Last Saturday at this park, Alec got his first Nickel Tri-Fecta. Today he got his first Dime Tri-Fecta. A 61 Rosie, a 34 Merc & a 1911 Barber. He also dug 4 Buffalo Nickels, a 1907 Indian, 2 Wheats, an old key and a plated ring.

I dug my first Nickel Tri-Fecta. A 1912 V, a 1928 Buffalo, and a 1945-P War Nickel. I also dug a Rosie, a Merc, 1 Wheat and another buff.

Tony Two-Cent dug everything else.

As always, it was a pleasure hunting with Tony. It always makes for a good day of detecting.

Gosh Don, you and Alec had a great day! That's a whole herd of buffalos or as Kevin Costner said in Dances With Wolves "Tatonka, tatonka!" I am still amazed at how far you have come since March. Somehow you've managed to get 5 years experience in less than 1 year! Best wishes and HH, Dave.

Thanks again for inviting me, Don, I think we all had a fun day! You guys had some great finds! Congrats to Alec on his first ever silver dime trifecta, and to you for your first nickel trifecta! I sure am glad that the weather is permitting us to hunt this late in the year. Let's hope it holds out!

Congrats to you and Alec on your finds! :clapping:

I can't believe how many coins you guys dig! I guess every site is different but generally when hunting public parks do you dig all the good signals or do you dig only under a certain depth? Nice going Don!

Thanks Drew.
In the morning I dig everything. As the day goes on and my knees start aching, I start digging only the deeper signals. LOL. ( but true)

Alec and I don't usually do that good at parks due to our location. We usually don' find much. This was by far, the best Park we have ever found ( 2 1/2 hours from home ). I found more old nickels there than I have all season. The silver wasn't bad either. As you saw, Tony did great there also.

Good finds, it is a shame the old nickles degrade as they do. I dug several both buffalo's as well as V nickles this year and it is rare to to be able to recognize the date.

Hehe....I'm in the woods most of the time but that's how it usually goes for me too ! Start fast.....then slow down. That is until I only have an hour left and I haven't found anything good.....then it's back to digging everything ;)

Great hunt Don. I do similar in parks, looking for the smooth and deep signals usually pays off better in the long run seeing most of the parks these days have long had the more shallow stuff (at least the older shallower stuff) hunted out by now.
