Lodge Scent

Got in a full morning of swing time with the Deus today. Hit a site that I wouldn’t call “pounded” but I have hit it pretty hard in the past. But I knew there was a decent chance it could produce some coppers if I worked at it hard enough. I really wanted to focus on learning the audio of the Deus so I took the controller off the unit and stuck it in the arm band holder and tried not to peek at it. That’s one of the benefits of being completely wireless. It’s like having a coil on the end of a stick ! I spent a lot of time fussing over signals but it really helped me understand what I was hearing.

Anyway I managed to snag an 1829 Matron Head and a toasted CT copper. The Matron Head was a surprise as I know I have passed several different coils over that spot. I had found another copper about 5 feet from that spot last year. There wasn’t any iron in the way either. It was very shallow at about 3 inches and the Deus gave a double signal. Not sure why I had missed it in the past??? :thinkingabout:

I almost passed on digging the Connecticut copper. Just prior to finding it I dug a piece of flashing that came in with a VDI of 60. About 4 feet away from the flashing I hit the CT copper. It sounded just like the flashing and also had a VDI around 60. I was sure it was another piece of flashing. Glad I decided not to be lazy.

That large lamp part was very deep under a bunch of roots and sounded like silver. Probably took me 20 minutes to dig it out.
The Deus continues to impress me. In many ways it is a lot simpler to understand how the various settings interact compared to my DFX and it is very easy to create and change programs. One negative for me is it doesn’t feel as balanced as I would like. The Deus is extremely light though, so it really isn't a big deal.
The remains of what looks like a CT copper.
