Atrribute this to the new machine? Looks in decent shape. I'm sure you knew the 1940 house was built on an 1800's lot. Only thing when that happened with me is I found a 1940's dime even tho the lot was 1800 even.

Nice! Any copper that is identifiable is a good copper.

Congrats on your first large cent. I always like finding LC's even though they are usually toasted without much value. I've found close to 50 over the last 2 years and never get tired of it. Way to go!

Huge congrats on your first Large Cent! :thumbsup02:

Maybe that house was built on an older home site. Was it in town or out in the country? Maybe you could tell the approximate age of the yard by the size of the trees.

I found my first Large Cent in the yard of a modern office building that was built in the 1970s, but my dad knew that an old house had previously stood there.

Good job on the largie, I hope it is the first of many for you! :perfect10:

Congrats on your first LC. I'm sure you also know you can find a clad dime at a revolutionary war site...it goes both ways! I'll take your way than the way I described though!

Great find Fireman. I bet it was a shock, given the age of the house. I hope you find many more in the days to come.
