Long story, but came into some decent extra cash through work (extra OT) and we bought a Fisher CZ-21.
YAY! Joe's happy... but now I gotta get one for myself. We'll share the 21 for now, but this isn't gonna work long-term.
I don't get a summer vaca this year so it's not that big a deal. I just hope it's warm enough to hit the water when we stay at a camp on a pond in Sept. when I'm on vaca... my Oct. vaca is definitely for land detecting.

The CZ-21 will be here tomorrow (Saturday), just in time for a 90 degree day on Sunday, July 4.

Yup... now to get me an underwater detector... then some extra gear... and then get certified for diving.... then..? Who knows... maybe dive for Sub Sea Research (getting paid to salvage ships) on some vacas or something. It won't all happen in a year, but as soon as we can. A friend of ours, Greg Brooks, is manager/part owner of SSR.

I don't know about Joe, but gold rings, etc, I find I'll be selling if it isn't engraved and I can't track the owner. I'll use the cash to pay for equipment and certifications.

This is, and always will be, a hobby of the heart. I love recovering items. Nothing will EVER change that. I'll always keep my day job until I can afford to retire and do this just for fun.

Well said. That's how I feel too. It's the longest thing I have stayed with in my life. Never give it up. Congrats on your water machine. May it lead you to GOLD!!

I don't think I could ever give this up, CN. I take this hobby very seriously, but only because it helps me enjoy life ~ and I'm dead serious about enjoying life. I'm not in this to make a million bucks, nor am I in this to make a living. Otherwise, I'd already be buried. I don't get frustrated when all I find is junk.

All I want from it all is the chance to explore and uncover the past. That's it. I never thought I'd be into water hunting, but that's all changed. I love cellar hole hunting and now I can combine that with water....

I'm gonna hunt this town that was flooded in 1950 by the electric company. At least the sections I can get to. I don't expect to be a certified diver next summer, but I'm going here, come hell or high water. I've got Joe all pumped about it. He and I talked about the need for a boat already. I've researched this area for a couple years and wanted to go there this year and do the land areas, but it was put off for various reasons. It seems things are actually working out for the better, now.

I'll be vacaing up there next year. It's actually not too far from our home. Check this out (this first one is long, but when you have 10 minutes to spare, watch it):

I have no idea, but I found it when I was researching and checking vids on Flagstaff.
I think I had mentioned info on Bigelow to you before. Well, this is all the area I was talking about.
