This afternoon I drove back to the park I worked yesterday and completed a grid I had left unfinished. I was rewarded with two more silver coins, one of them a very nice old one. After completing the grid I moved to another section of the park and picked up two more silver dimes and two large cents.

What is that peeking through the soil?

It's a beautiful 1827 Capped Bust dime! :happydance01:

Here is today's silver.

Two Draped Bust large cents, but badly corroded. :crying02: I'll take them though. They bring my copper count for the year to 26. :happydance01:

Lastly, a bunch of very ugly wheat cents.

Congratulations on another great hunt. That bust dime must have been dropped not long after it was minted. :peace:

My, My, My, she's a beauty :envious: I'm glad you didn't find her on my day  Your starting to put us colonial hunters to shame ;) Beautiful condition. I checked for rare dates and there are none in 1827, but still a high priced dime :happydance01: Who cares about the rest of the stuff found  Just kidding, nice old coppers too.

It is a beauty Angel. Congratulations!!

Like I said, there should be some weighting scale to your number of silvers found, so this one could count for something like five.

I would love to find one of those.

Yep, Roosies count for 1, Mercs get 2, Barbers get 4, Seated get 8, and Capped bust get 40 ;) That's how rare it is to find a Capped. I've found 2 and it's usually years before I get another one

It's funny because I found it on the grounds to the left of that small fence, not far at all from where I had been gridding and finding the other silver this past Wednesday. Had I just moved a little more to the side it would have been in my pouch that day.

You are probably right. I already have her protected in a 2X2 cardboard. :smitten: She beats by a wide margin the one I found in 2007.

A great find Angel and in incredible shape . :thumbsup01: :thumbsup01: I got one once and the only digging I had to do was in my wallet . I'm thinking that here on the West Coast gold coins show up with more frequency than a Caped Bust .

During the past few years I have found just one other Capped Bust dime, dated 1821, but it is very, very worn. I also found a nice looking 1836 Capped Bust half dime back in 2005.
