I went back to the farm after work today and pulled up some more stuff. No coins:crying01: But the spoon does have a date on it. And as for the medical badge? I found one just like it a few years ago at the same farm, but the back was gone. This one has a gear on it . And I don`t know the other thing, looks like a copper button of sorts.

Nice digs! The medical pin is a World War I Medical Corps collar disc. Cool find!

I like that medic pin too. The copper "button" definitely goes on some fabric/leather. Those two tabs secure it. Similar to those spikes you see on leather jackets. Maybe this one was a decorative piece on a rein. The spoon isn't actually 1847 tho. It is either sterling or sterling plated, but the Rogers Bro's 1847 date is just their founding date which appears on all their silverware. I think the plate would have spots where you can see the metal underneath, like the silver plate spoon I found at an 1840s house, so you might be able to tell if plated or solid.

Thank you, I like the pin too, it`s my second one found there. I thought they were older. The spoon says 1847, but like MangoAve wrote ,he knows. It is plated.

Robbie congrats on the medic collar disk :thumbsup02: usually taking a soft brass brush to them
( brushing in one direction under a faucet) will bring out some nice highlights and contrast to show them off.

Thanks Dan, For now it`s sitting in olive oil and I`ve used a toothbrush on it. Do you think I could use brasso on it ?

Robbie I'm not to familiar with brasso or what exactly it does to the metal . after your olive oil bath ,I would just take the soft bristle brush to it and brush it just enough to see the natural metal start to show on the high spots .

Here they are, all cleaned up. After sitting in olive oil, than used a brass coin cleaning pen, I think it turned out well. As you can see my most resent one has a smaller insignia.46319
