The last couple of field hunts have given some finds, mostly relics and buttons….lots of buttons! I went out to a site that has given some nice items including Large Cents and marbles…a lot of marbles! So of course I found a marble and one coin an 1885 Indian Head.

The next hunt was to find a site that was an old frame house, Diane and I after a bit of searching were able to locate it and our finds were mainly buttons. It was late in the day so we had a short time and will come back here.

My next hunt was with a friend who took me out to a few of his spots, one of the spots we found was way out in the middle of a bean field…and when I say way out I mean way out! It was slow at first then the buttons started popping out. I ended with 9 flat buttons, a pocket knife and a few other relics including a tag that was sort of chewed up. It does have the word Home on it and some other writing I cannot make out, maybe type of bale seal? I have no clue. I got two little brass cups, you can see where a handle was attached most likely from a child’s play set.

The one in which we found the buttons I think would be around 300 acres!

Hey, how come my detector won't sound off on a marble ? Nice bunch of finds. I could dig buttons all day long and be happy. Interesting piece of acorn-shaped glass. Is that pocket knife bone or shell ??

Congrats on the button haul. I agree with Lodge Scent. That glass acorn piece drew my eye- pretty cool.

Very nice buttons you found there. They look mostly like common early types but I agree with the earlier post...I could dig buttons all day long and I'd be a happy camper.
