I had an exciting hunt this morning , knocking two items off my bucket list. I found a cellar hole that was still standing as late as the 1980s...so no 1600s stuff this time , or even colonial. BUT, I liked the results!

1945 Wheat
1943 Walking Liberty Half
1936 Merc
1874 Indian
1854 Seated Quarter with arrows
These coins are all in very nice condition, even the Indian.

...and the two bucket list items were a piece of silver cutlery and a hames top. The row of oaks still standing sentry over the yard gave up the hole's whereabouts. Thanks!

Fantastic Drew. Seated quarter...awesome! By the way, I plead ignorance here. What on earth is a hames top?

HEY!!. What are you doing hitting sites newer than 1600s? Cleaning that quarter anymore?

Thanks everyone....Jim, I plead ignorance when it comes to cleaning silver. I don't even use a toothbrush because it seems to leave tiny scratches. So I guess I could soak the silver in soapy water, but I don't care that much

Lol. I thought you would say ignorance to the first part of my comment. Are you using a wire brush for a toothbrush? Lol. Idk but I thought the soft bristle would be fine. Or the soap and water. I figured the seated might get a case or be for display and therefore cleaned up a bit.

Idk but I thought the soft bristle would be fine. Maybe someone will chime in as to what they do with silver. I find that when you use a soft toothbrush it pushes the dirt around which seems to leave tiny scratches.

Drew, nice detective work using those trees to hone in on that site. Still looking for my 1st seated quarter and yours is a beauty.

See you May 3rd?

Congrats on some awesome finds, OSD. As everyone has already stated, that seated quarter is delicious!!!! As for cleaning silver, I just check the date first to see if it is a key date and has considerable value, and if it doesn't I just clean it with soapy warm water and a soft toothbrush. I don;t worry about the tiny scratches if it's not a valuable coin.

Congrats on some great finds! And a Walker too? Wow.

Way to go Drew!:clapping:
You know you had a killer hunt when a quarter is a better find than a Walker half!
From the seated family, a quarter is one that has still eluted me :envious:
Congrats on all those sweet finds!
